If you’ve ever tried to swap out heat lamps across different generations of Sidel gear, you know it’s a headache. You can’t just look at a wattage number and assume it’ll work. It’s not that simple. We built our replacement lamps for the SIG Blomax 4 to be a true “drop-in” fix. The goal was to create something that bridges the gap between those old-school SBO units and the newer Matrix series without making you pull your hair out. The trick is in the fit. We spent a lot of time obsessing over the mechanical footprint and the electrical load. See, if a lamp fits the slot but pulls too many amps, you’re going to trip your breakers. If it’s even a tiny bit too short? You get cold spots in your preform. We matched the length and connector geometry exactly to the original Sidel specs. That means the lamps sit right where they should. No stressing the quartz tube, no hacking away at the reflector housing. It just fits. Then there’s the heat. We use high-density shortwave infrared. The point is to get that heat into the PET preforms fast. By managing the halogen cycle inside the quartz, we keep the temperature steady, even as the filament starts to age. This stops that annoying “drift” in heat distribution. You know the one—where you suddenly start seeing pearlescence or weird, uneven wall thickness in your bottles. A quick heads-up on installation. You can swap these out during a normal maintenance window. No need to spend hours recalibrating the whole oven. It’s a breeze. But here’s the thing: if you crank these lamps up to max wattage, you’re putting more stress on your cooling blowers.
