Now imagine a few stray drops of cold water hitting it. With a cheap lamp, that’s a recipe for a loud pop and a shower full of glass shards. The Deal with Quartz Glass
Here is the thing about standard quartz: it expands and shrinks fast. In a steamy bathroom, a sudden cold splash creates a “stress point” on the glass. It’s like ice cracking on a pond. Keeping the Water Out
You’ll see “IP65” on the specs. In plain English, that just means the unit is dust-tight and can handle water jets. We seal the wire entries and the housing tight so steam can’t sneak into the electrical terminals. If moisture gets in there, you’re looking at a short circuit or, more likely, your GFCI outlet tripping every single time you turn on the shower. No one wants to be shivering in the dark because of a tripped breaker.
The Trade-off
Now, there’s a catch. These heaters give you that instant, cozy radiant heat—which is way better than waiting for a room to warm up via convection. But because we’ve added that protective coating and a heavy-duty housing, a little bit of that infrared heat gets blocked. It’s a small price to pay for safety, but you might notice it.
