Getting Your Krones Contiform 3 Heating Just Right
Keeping a Krones Contiform 3 oven running smoothly is a bit of a balancing act. You want enough heat to get the job done, but you don’t want to burn through your lamps every few weeks. When the OEM prices start to sting, you need a replacement that just works. No guesswork. It needs to fit the electrical footprint and hit the same spectral output as the factory tubes, or you’re just asking for trouble. The heat and the power The Contiform 3 uses shortwave infrared lamps to get those PET preforms soft and ready, fast. We build our lamps to match the exact voltage and wattage your Krones power supply expects. Now, high-wattage tubes are great for fast cycle times, but they run hot. Really hot. If your oven ventilation is clogged or dusty, that heat has nowhere to go. It soaks back into the lamp and kills it early. Keep those vents clear. The build quality We use heavy-wall quartz glass for a reason: it doesn’t bow when things get intense. Plus, we use a halogen cycle to keep the tungsten deposits moving. That means your light output stays steady for thousands of hours instead of dipping off. But here is where most people run into trouble: the connectors. Whether you’re using R7s or Sk15 bases, a loose fit is a nightmare. It causes arcing, which basically torches your socket and the lamp end-cap. We keep our tolerances tight so you get a solid mechanical lock. No wiggle room. Real-world blowing These lamps are built specifically for the Contiform 3 modules. When you swap out a full set, it gives you a fresh start to recalibrate your heat zones for different preform weights. One quick tip: don’t just replace one or two burnt-out bulbs in a zone. If you do, you’ll end up with “cold spots.” That leads to uneven walls in your bottles, and nobody wants that. It’s much better to swap the lamps in complete sets per zone. That way, the heat stays uniform and your bottles come out perfect every time.
