We decided to fix that. We built a drop-in replacement lamp that does exactly what the original does, but without the “brand name” price tag. It’s designed specifically for the heat demands of PET preforms. Getting the heat right The whole game of blow molding comes down to wattage and voltage. If you don’t hit those numbers, you’re in trouble. Our lamps are built for the heavy-duty voltage of industrial ovens, packing a lot of power into a small space. This means your machines heat up fast. You get that intense heat needed to soften the PET, but it stays focused so you don’t accidentally melt the neck of the preform. One quick tip, though: if you’re running these at full blast, your cooling fans are working overtime. Keep your vents clean. If they’re clogged with dust, your lamps will burn out way faster than they should. Built to last (and fit) We use heavy-wall quartz glass here. Why? Because cheap glass bows and warps when things get hot. This stuff stays straight. Plus, the halogen cycle keeps the tungsten filament from evaporating too quickly, so the lamp actually lasts. As for the install? It’s a breeze. We use standard R7s connectors. You don’t need to rewire anything or buy fancy new sockets. Just pull the old one out, pop the new one in, and you’re back in business in a few minutes. Better bottles, lower costs We’ve all seen it—uneven heating leads to wonky wall thickness in the bottle.
